Surgical procedures are a necessary component of your pet’s health care plan. Our staff provides every pet in our hospital with kindness, compassion, and the highest-quality care. Your pet’s safety and comfort are our highest priority. Whether your pet needs a routine spay or requires a more complicated surgery, we provide compassionate care using advanced veterinary surgical techniques.
Our hospital is capable of performing a variety of surgical procedures. Some complex surgical procedures may be referred to a trusted outside specialist. We encourage you to ask questions about your pet’s surgery and welcome you to call and check on your pet following surgery.
Prior to surgery, your pet undergoes a full physical examination; we use this examination to develop an anesthesia protocol tailored to your pet’s needs. While under anesthesia, your pet is monitored using a variety of methods, including:
- Doppler blood pressure
- EKG
- Oxygen/carbon dioxide levels
- Temperature regulation
- Constant monitoring by one of our veterinary technicians
Monitoring a patient under anesthesia is a complex undertaking that is important to health and safety. Our experienced staff closely observes heart rate, blood flow, oxygenation levels, and respiratory functions. We also utilize effective warming protocols to avoid hypothermia, which can be a risk for anesthetized patients. The monitoring of your pet’s condition does not end when the surgery is finished, but continues throughout the recovery process.
All pets undergoing surgery are treated with multiple pain-management techniques, and that pain management is tailored to each pet based on pre- and post-surgical needs. Your pet may go home with an oral and/or topical pain medication.

Depending on the procedure, surgeries may be performed by an outside specialist, in-house.
